Christian statement

Inspired by faith and motivated by love, we seek to bring hope to those whose lives are too familiar with despair. We believe the tide can be turned, that a movement of people who live with justice, hope, action and love really can change the world.

All of our partners share our Christian beliefs and values and the same motivation.

iThemba’s partners:

  • serve all people – regardless of race, religion, gender or nationality
  • recognise the central role of the local church – believing that local churches and Christians have a vital role to play in helping those affected by HIV and AIDS in both practical and spiritual ways
  • acknowledge the power and importance of prayer to guide their work. Prayer requests are included with routine reports from our partners and urgent prayer needs can be communicated at any time
  • share their Christian hope in sensitive and appropriate ways, and nurture Christians in their faith.

iThemba relies on the continuing generosity of many supporters, including individuals, charitable trusts, churches and young people. Our Christian ethos and 100% action guarantee provide an important foundation for trust, which supporters of iThemba find very reassuring.

Prayer is a vital part of the support we receive and the staff and trustees continue to look to God for guidance and inspiration in all areas of our work. Our desire is that as iThemba brings hope to those affected by HIV and AIDS, it will be a living example of God’s love for all people.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress …” James 1.27

As a formal Statement of Faith, we ascribe to the International Congress on World Evangelisation, Lausanne Covenant 1974.
