counselling and testing
Voluntary counselling and testing plays a vital part in preventing the spread of HIV. Testing should be available to everyone who requests a test and once people know their status, they should have access to associated counselling services and support groups to help them cope and look to the future.
iThemba partners are working to encourage people to come forward for testing, countering the stigma associated with having HIV and AIDS and making testing a normal activity for the local community, in churches, marketplaces, schools and clinics.
